The little town of Cullinan dates from the early days of the 20th century, when its corrugated iron and sandstone houses were built during the development in 1902 of the Premier Diamond Mine.

A businessman Thomas Cullinan told his wife that one day he would discover the biggest diamond in the world, and some day in January 1905 his dream came true. Take a surface tour through the mine where the famous Cullinan diamond - largest in the world - 3106 carats - was found in 1905. Don't miss the shop where women's "best friends" are for sale to the public.
