Guests are met at your hotel or airport. We depart from Johannesburg or Pretoria traveling in a south-easterly direction towards the town of Volksrust where we enter the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Traveling towards Vryheid, the vegetation changes to a lusty greenery of semi-bushveld, a typical Africa scene. From Vryheid we travel through Zulu country where the last battle of British soldiers and Zulu impis took place in 1879. Passing the Zulu towns of Hlobane, Nongoma and Hlabisa, we enter the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve at Gunjaneni entrance gate. Arriving at Hilltop camp, we settle in, and if time allows us, take a short game drive in the park. Enjoy a drink in the bar and have dinner in the Hilltop restaurant. Day 2: Early wake up call and set off to look for those African animals we came for. Stop at a picnic spot and prepare our own breakfast. Rest of day we search for the "Big Five" and enjoy nature as only Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve can offer us. Late afternoon, a game drive will be done in an open safari vehicle with a game ranger from a neighboring game reserve. Arriving back from the game drive we head for St Lucia where a "braaivleis" (BBQ) will be enjoyed under the African skies. Overnight in a luxury holiday resort with own restaurant, bar, swimming pool and all necessary facilities. Day 3: After a hearty breakfast we take a two hour tour on an 80 seater launch or river boat up St Lucia Estuary Reserve with a ranger guide to show and tell you about the beauty of the lake and surrounding estuary life. At 14h00 we depart to DumaZulu, a traditional "kraal" to enjoy Zulu dancing. Dinner can be either at DumaZulu restaurant or in a local restaurant in St Lucia. Overnight in a luxury holiday resort with own restaurant, bar, swimming pool and all necessary facilities. Day 4: After a hearty breakfast we start our journey back, passing the Pongolapoort Dam towards the sugarcane town of Pongola and head back for Johannesburg. Arrival time +/- 17h00.
